It is impossible to read and sensibly interpret data in scientific texts and the medical literature without some understanding of the mathematics of statistics.  The objective of here is to review the common statistical terms and to provide understanding of the most commonly used statistical methods. Lacking basic numeracy skills is a critical disadvantage to those wishing to be able to interpret medical texts and to communicate scientific terminology.
